Bike and Girl: Too good to be true?

Posted on October 13, 2010May 15, 2022 by pranay

It was like all other days. Probably the only thing so special about it, was that it was a Sunday. And a sunday evening for that matter! I was just coming back home, when it started drizzling. The drizzle became a steady rain, moving to heavy rain. And it was raining cats and dogs!

There was not a patch of cloth, left dry on me. And my only protection to the rain, was a helmet, blinding my field of vision. I drove through the perilous rain and by the time i got back to home, i was like leaking water from my clothes. By the time i removed my clothes i had already created a puddle.

Common sense, would have said, get dry. Get a cup of tea. Listen to some mild songs and go to sleep. But common sense was sleeping that day, and as it happened i opened my Facebook. There was this girl online. It was someone i had known online, had very limited interaction, and obviously i thought who wasnt anyhow interested in me. Yeah, she was one gorgeous girl. But well we hardly talked. And i decided to say Hi. And it was another ‘trying to make conversation’ thing, until i just randomly asked “Do you like bikes?”.

She was surprised. And asked me “Why did you ask this?”. I told her travelling was love #3 for me. And bikes an essential part of travelling too. We talked a bit more. And she suddenly asked me, “why dont you come here”. I took it as a joke initially. But i asked seriously. “do you want me to come in this rain?”/ She said yes. And she gave me a call, and said “Are you coming?”. I knew then, that this was a random crazy decision i had to make.

On one side was the chance of meeting a gorgeous girl, who i still was scared to believe was real. And on the other side, the possibility of getting all wet, the bangalore cold at night, and my falling ill. I finally choose the first! And was on. 30KM and 50 minutes later, i was in front of her. And the clock showed that it was that time in Bangalore, when almost everything is closed or closing. We did manage to get some coffee somewhere, and of course, some conversation to accompany it. Everything semed unreal. Every thing was so sudden, that i dont know what sort of condition i was in when she saw me. And even as i dropped her back, i did not realise what she had thought of me. Did she like me, or found me mad?

The unlucky part was that she was going home the next day. For one full month. And it appeared as if a intermission had taken place in this story. She said “i would call you back”. And i got back home and fell asleep. Through my sleep I could hear the phone ring. Or so it seemed. I wondered if it was her…

But as i opened my sleepy eyes i realised it was the alarm ringing on the Sunday morning. And i had just had a very pleasant dream!

I was always thinking it as a real incident and I admit to hitting my forehead when you explicitly mentioned it as a dream. Liked it 🙂
