I stand here again

Posted on May 18, 2010January 21, 2018 by pranay

I wrote a poem more than a year back called And there she stood . I still feel it to be the best thing i ever wrote. So just tried to continue from there. Maybe this is as good, though i am not sure!

I stand here again
Back to this place here, where
A few months ago she had stood
The faint smile and half words

My knees weaken, so does my soul
If only i could return
To that sweet moment in the past
And see that smile again

Now she was gone,
Gone never to return
To a place where life takes us all
But none to bring back

I missed that smile
The sweet voice that glided
Out of the gentle lips
Floating on air

I remember, how she blushed
The moments etched in my memory
How life had been beautiful again
Every moment, a new life

Short lived, is happiness
Perhaps its the will of nature
For just when a new life began for me
Her’s was returned to God

One day she was fine
The next day she knew
That these were but last
Moments, to last me a lifetime

She had stayed in my arms
Her eyes red, but shining
For she told me, this is not the end
We will meet again
If not in life, then death

And there she had stood
And here she now lay
Loved, and at rest
A calm stillness around her

And once again
I couldn’t help but remember
How she had stood here
The faint smile, and half words

your poem felt very rhythmic. you just made me realize that i don’t need to define a rhyming scheme to write down a poem.

yeah. the first time i wrote something without trying to use words like pain-gain-vain, felt eureka moment!!
      try writing without rhyming
