Crazy Love

Posted on April 13, 2010May 15, 2022 by pranay

I feel like writing a story. Not fiction exactly. Just a better way to convey thoughts than writing the facts straight out. It contains a message, rather a collection of thoughts. About human behavior, or the common sense prevailing in today’s world.

(All names are fictional)

There is a girl Naina. There is a boy Rahul. And then there is another guy X (me). I and Naina are friends. But unlike the usual thing, I don’t love Naina. I rather find her a bit crazy and dumb. Obviously I could ignore the facts, and still try to get in her pants. But I don’t whatever the reason.

I and Rahul are friends too.  And somehow Rahul and Naina become friends. Slowly that develops (to my surprise) into love. I end up thinking, “Wow. Rahul can love too. And that too Naina. I am sure something is amiss here. Maybe he too wants to get into the pants!” The Rahul-Naina relation develops and it definitely goes into the ‘pants’ stage. The first time for Naina. Obviously she is attached to Rahul very much. Even though she lies and says different things to me and Rahul at same time, and asking both of us to believe her. “That girl is a total psycho.”, I think, “I don’t want anything more to do with that psycho!”.

I move into the background, watching the story unfold. The girl while in same city, is Rahul’s girlfriend. Then she moves to other city. The relation stutters and breaks down maybe. Then she is back. And around that time Rahul used to say “Naina is such a psycho“. He tried to avoid her too. But then he gets back with her soon enough. Getting into the pants maybe! And just as sure, that once he moves from this city, Naina would be history.

I know its a bit confusing. But the central point is, even after accepting you don’t like someone, you still end up with her. What is the reason behind it? Is it sex, or just company?

My take is sex. What all a guy would do, going against all that he has said and done before, for this reason? It’s disgusting and yet funny. I don’t know whether I should feel an intense hate towards Rahul. He comes across currently as still in love with Naina. (Whatever that love is) But I am sure, once he moves to some other place, it will buh-bye Naina. “I gotta go girl. Whatever happened between us, happened. Can’t help it na. But now I have to go to a new place. New girl. You understand na!!” maybe this is what he will say to her.

And the girl Naina. Obviously she is crazy, and she is vulnerable. She is being used so amazingly by a guy, and she is still crazily devoted. No sense at all?

I mean frankly, I am disgusted by it, even if all this has a sense of normalcy associated in today’s life. There is also a pain, thinking, am I not responsible in part for one spoiled life. There is sometimes a feeling of anger, “yeah she deserved it, all right“.
