Love : Spiritual or Material

Posted on April 8, 2010January 21, 2018 by pranay

I have been wondering about Love again. Is it something spiritual or material. I mean there was a time when i considered it something of mind, of thought, of something close to god. And yet, it suddenly feels like a necessity like money, mobile etc.

Its as if, i sometimes have these sudden desperate want of love, and then at other times i shun it as if a unnecessary need. The same way we do try to avoid some of the luxuries of life. You want to abstain from it, abstain from the material needs. And then there are these impulsive moments when you long for all of it. Just like what happens with love.

Another thing i noticed was that when we talk about something spiritual, its almost always related to not one, but encompasses all. And yet love is about me, and another person. All tends to be neglected here. So do we call love spiritual?

On the other hand, love is but the central aspect of Spirituality. Its of mind, rather than matter. To be spiritual, is to love without boundaries or basis. To respect and care for one and all is what matters. Through this, we focus on ourselves. Through all, we can look at self. That is spirituality maybe.

So when i want to love, what do i consider it? A gateway to spirituality or just another materialistic want. And whichever category i fit it in, what next? If it is about anyone of the above, it brings along another set of problems.

Maybe that is why we say Love happens only once. Half the lifetime is spent understanding Love, and rest half contemplating what we understood was right or wrong.

it’s kinda wiered, can’t really explain with words, however the more we spend time thinking about it, the more it seems to be getting wasted. It’s like oxygen in the air, you don’t need to learn to inhale oxygen which is there in the atmosphere, you just have it.. you are born in it and you die in it.. and hence the love, we don’t need to learn it.. it is in us and we are in it 🙂 Don’t know if this is making any sense to you however just a thought to share and think on!!

the depth of love can not be measured …. it enhance the relationship and comforts the soul ….. there is no condition in love …… but it can be created 🙂 you just need to focus on the goodness of the other person. if this can be done easily, then you can also love easily 😀

Recently I read a book by OSHO and there he describes love to be like a dance.. and I don’t think there’s any other way it could have been.. Love can’t be described coz it’s not a docterine, or a philosophy.. its something to be done. Dancing is something to be done.. One can’t talk about it, one can’t describe it, you can only do it. Just a thought.. 😉 cheers
