Game of Wind and Rain

It rained all day, and it rained more
Like it was the final night
The dams were almost struggling
To keep up with the water’s might

And the wind too howled
as if pricked in the heart
There was anguish, perhaps despair
The end wasn’t near, as was the start

On the tree beside the bank
on the last branch but one
the 2 birds stuck together
waiting for the shining sun

Below the tree stood a beast
So hungry, unfazed even by the wind and the rain
It stared at the birds up the tree
Those eyes full of want and pain

And deep inside the river
the fish scurried to their homes
The bigger ones start to hunt
And the rest enter their domes

At last, the wind overcomes
The leaf falls, touching the fruit
The fruit crashes on the bird
The bird falls to the brute

The brute goes to drink water
The water swallows him up

The hunters of the river
get their hunt too
The wind howls again, almost contently
finishing what it set out to do
